I was told by my manager that my promotion happened, and was even told what my new salary and title is. Yesterday they said we can't announce it yet because it will be announced along with some others. Today my pay stub doesn't reflect the new amount. Did I just get scammed by my own company?

It sounds like it's in the works but not yet happening. Chances are you'll know when the promotion really kicks in because you'll be handed more duties. And in the paycheck after that you'll find the salary bump.

it probably just has not caught up yet. sometimes the raises take a couple pay periods to reflect

Highly doubt it. The new pay scale just hasn't been implemented yet. Give it a couple weeks, and if it still hasn't happened, ask your manager for clarification on when it's going to take effect.

I did check back with her. Apparently it was a two step process and she missed a step, but it's sorted now and will be retro to the previous pay period. So I'll get an extra large paycheck right after Christmas, which will be handy.

No if it’s not been announced then it not’s effective yet. So the pay will not reflect the promotion yet. Also ask if it’s retroactive or the next upcoming paycheck.

Okay, it’s time to stop putting on a face about this. I love my boyfriend so much, but covid is ruining us. We are both still WFH and argue every few days about the dumbest stuff. My stomach hurts every time we fight and I (independent of him) feel so stuck in this horrible global crisis. I don’t want to lose him, but I need to figure out how to dig us both out of this unsustainable mental state.
