Why do you think your practical skills are ahead of your peers, especially relative to lawyers who are already in T&E and are applying to those roles as well?
Once you have more experience in T&E they are really receptive to anyone with good experience regardless of where you went to school. I would recommend starting at a smaller T&E boutique first. Family law is very good background experience for a T&E attorney but it is an entirely different practice area from T&E.
Not a recruiter, but I would focus on the draw of the practice area and not the stability factor (though understand that could be a byproduct of a larger firm than where you are now). Start by taking steps to show you are a self starter and are learning in this area without anyone holding your hand. This will mean reading on your own and publishing or speaking on trust and estates topics. You could even do some pro bono work in this area (supervised) to show some experience. It will be extra work, but will pay off if you want to move and differentiate yourself. Good luck to you.
