For those that interviewed with both, how would you suggest I tailor my preparation for each one? I understand McKinsey is interviewer led while Bain is the opposite. I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? Can you work 24/7? Can you not charge overtime meal? Can you eat hours? Can you take unlimited vacations as they exist? If not, we still take you as we are short of human beings.
In my experience they aren’t gonna ‘quiz’ you on anything. Just be prepared to discuss what you’ve done in previous experience. They are mostly checking to see that you can talk like a normal person (reacting to questions, easy to work with, friendly, personable).
This goes for most interviews, but always come with a list of questions. I’ve found my best interviewees appear genuinely interested in learning more about the role, and have thoughtful questions.
