I wouldn't trade this year/this experience/my judge for anything. But damn, I miss home.

Suppose I'm just hoping for some commiseration from fellow clerks who left for one year with definitive plans to return to Firm after clerkship (which I feel is at least fairly common).

Yup, I feel you. I moved for the clerkship and it’s hard to make friends and immerse yourself in a new place when you know you’re going back immediately where you came from…. I’m lucky to clerk in a great city too and love the judge and clerkship but it’s just not the same.

Hi everyone! I come from Big law and have an interview at a federal court (dream job) and will be meeting two federal judges. Any tips for a successful interview? I’ve worked previously at a lower court. Any qualities / skills I should put forward? Many thanks

Still WFH? What are other chambers doing for task management? Our chambers has been keeping up with assignments, incoming emails needing judge’s eyes, and written orders, all through Microsoft Planner. We share PDFs through Sharepoint folders. Although we still email draft orders back and forth, the system seems to work well enough. We still aren’t operating at our previous capacity because it takes 10x the number of steps to get a motion heard or an order entered—90% of our workload.

Need advice on a specific question!
Interviewed with Chicago court 2 weeks ago; they decide mid-August. Interviewed with DC judge last week; hear from him by this Friday. Chicago said if I need an answer before August, they'd try to make a decision about me sooner.
Should I ask Chicago for an answer? Or should I wait until there's an offer from DC judge? Maybe seems better to withdraw before an offer is made rather than ask for time to think about it/turn down DC? What's proper etiquette?
