I’ve recently started work at a very young tech startup. Coming from a big law background, this was a huge change of pace/environment. I’m having a lot of trouble getting used to how unstructured the startup is. It feels like hire ups give a set of instructions then talk as if they don’t remember, or then decided rules A, B, C and D applies without being clear this was the case. Received an offer for an internal promotion and the verbal offer differed from the written offer. Specifically, the bonus verbalized was 2% higher than the offer letter. HR basically just said ‘sorry, our mistake the letter is right’. What would you do?

(Context - trying to decide what title to recommend for EAs in our org who now manage people. Currently, we have multiple levels, but all EAs have the "Executive Assistant" title regardless of seniority / level / manager status.)

Looking to get a bit of insight on breaking into tech working as an executive assistant after working for BigLaw for 20+ years.

I've been applying to tech companies for executive assistant positions - in particular, remote work positions - and I have yet to get a nibble.

I'm extremely tech savvy and have a lot of initiative but I am afraid that these companies are put off by how long I've been working assuming that I am a middle-aged woman that is not able to go with the flow.
