Haha. If I turn off my television and walk away, I won’t know we had a commercial running, wtf.
“Unfortunately if I mute you and put my thumb over your face, I can still tell you’re an idiot”
Response: Maybe if your product was actually distinctive and revolutionary to the category it would be able to stand on its own. Maybe if you let us create an unmistakeable brand identity that only you could own in this space, you could cover that logo and know who it was for. You haven’t let us do that yet. An your budgets aren’t buying that level of work."
Client would like creative rationale behind not putting subtitles on the TV spot in case viewers have TV on mute. Wonders if creative has any solutions around how to convey VO talent in subtitles? How can we use creative to ensure viewed won’t change channel or walk away?
You just can't make stuff like this up. I didn't know how to respond and keep my job.
Man, that’s a sad story OP. I cringe when I think about having to respond to that sort of comment. But in a way, I think that this client has an excellent point. Why would anyone want to look at most of the things that get made, much less listen to them? Maybe a good goal for this, and every client, is to make films that are so interesting that people want to have the sound on.
If I cover your product , the world still goes on..
omg had a client say this to me this week. how did you actually responded, i’ve been dodging this feedback for days
Write everything in the wrong language - then subs will actually make sense :)
