You don’t need to prove yourself or your explain your job to people in AA. What people think of us is none of our business.
I got sober in 2006 in NYC before I moved out here and faced the same thing back then. I’ll tell you what my sponsor told me then...take what you need and leave the rest.
What other people think of you is none of your business including the people in the program.
Go to meetings as much as you need to and when you get a year under your belt ... give back. You’re gonna be great!

Knowing what a treacherous industry we work in (before you protest, I know that’s not everyone, but you get my drift) would you want to be in a meeting surrounded by your peers, past, present and possibly future?
Tend to relate OP, but curious what others think.
I know in NY the lunchtime midtown meetings have lots of ad ppl just based on location, maybe there's an area in LA near a ton of agencies? Also, I second that it's no one's business to judge you. I hear you on the comradery tho, but definitely a nice to have to me.
There are lots of people in the film industry who work long hours in LA. Try some silverlake meetings.
