In a science middle school classroom, aside from materials manager, secretary, botanist & cleanup... can you think of any other jobs for students?

I need to talk with a teacher about inappropriate behavior some parents are complaining that she has in the classroom. How do I approach this without accusing her or making her feel ambushed?

I'm currently a middle school social studies teacher (this is my 10th year of teaching) and formerly worked as a home health care manager at our local area agency on aging (4.5 years) and as a behavioral modification counselor for adjudicated teens in a residential behavioral modification program (5 years). I had a tutoring business for 1.5 years as well. I'm looking to transition away from the classroom if anyone has any jobs or job leads I might be qualified for, please let me know. Thank you!

Has anyone incorporated responsive classroom into their school-wide PBIS framework? If so, what are some things you did that have worked really well?

Organization is critical for classroom management. Try assembling units into Google Slides with links to ppts, activities, etc. Color code them according to the rainbow: Unit 1 red, Unit 2 orange etc. It takes a minute at first but the payoff is a one click upload for next year! PS I use the same color code system with felt tip pens to grade my classes: 1st hr red, 2nd hr orange etc.

Can we create a culture that recognizes that consuming alcohol results in your body producing acetaldehyde which is a known carcinogen? Not saying that people should not be drinking, but there should be more education about it. Just like how every smoker is aware of what it does to your health. People generally know that drinking heavily isn’t good for you, but most people I come across don’t realize that your body produces carcinogen while processing alcohol.

How are you teaching middle or high school chorus in the fully virtual realm? I’m looking for new ideas and techniques. I hate that my choirs can only sing on Zoom with everyone muted...that’s the opposite of choral singing :-(

Anyone who knows you will be returning F2F: have your administratirs said what band/chorus classes can or cannot do when you return? I was told today at my school, there will be NO singing or playing instruments INSIDE of the building, and we're supposed to come up with ways to make that work.

So I got moved to the art room. The art teacher gave me permission to use her supplies since a he isn't teaching art. So today I used some of the supplies. Next thing I know I get an email from her with the principal and vice principal chewing me out about using her stuff. Even though she said it was OK. Anyone know a good data resource? I’m struggling with an assignment for grad school about collecting and analyzing data. I am resigning from my position. I don’t have a job secured yet, but I have a couple interviews lined up. I’m wondering if I should tell my admin tomorrow (before going on break) or wait until I have a job secured.
FYI: I found one document saying I need to give a 30 day notice and the employee handbook says 2 weeks to be in “good standing”.
