If you were going to leave the state, would you move to Alabama? Seems like an odd choice but apparently that's where most people who leave the state end up. If you were going to move, where would you go?

Birmingham is a really nice place to live. I wouldn’t want to live there though…too segregated, too corrupt., too racist.
Chicago, Boston, DC, NYC, Seattle... never Alabama
Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, Opelika/Auburn are all good areas to live. Cost of living is much cheaper.
I wouldn't. If I was going to move, I would want to get far away from the south. Somewhere on the west coast would be my dream destination.
I’d move to a state with no state taxes. Texas, Delaware, Florida, Nevada. I’d never live in Alabama.
Alabama seems like a craft choice lol. Why Alabama? What is even there? I have so many follow up questions for people who decided to leave Georgia and move the Alabama. It has got to be a witness protection thing right? Lol
SC, NC, CO, maybe TX (Austin)
I absolutely would not. I get it the cost of living is cheap but the racism in EVERY OTHER PART OF THE SOUTH, is too much for me. I was in Nashville and felt the energy. I’ll stay right here in my overpriced bubble of a blue city in a red state.
With all due respect to DRPM1, Alabama has a low cost of living because it has a horrendous quality of life. None of those cities are good places to live, especially Birmingham. It’s not a good place to live if there’s a lot of corruption and segregation.
Also, the rates of gun violence are very high compared to Atlanta. There are several quality of life metrics used to rank states including access to standard healthcare, affordable child care, access to social services, good schools, reputable universities, safety, environmental protection, worker protection laws, etc. Alabama typically ranks in the bottom 3 in most metrics. AL is one of 3 states that still don’t allow early voting 😩
The South in general ranks low compared to the rest of the country. Based on my research and having lived in and traveled extensively to other states, I’d choose Maryland or California.
A high quality of life comes at a high cost. You get what you pay for. Here are a few rankings of states based on quality of life metrics:
