Not worth the commute, the bridge gets really busy. SLU is a great area, lots of yuppie activities and restaurants and coffee shops. Capitol hill nearby as well.
Are you a CBS MBA or undergrad? Guessing you’re interning with Amazon haha.
Same! CBS alums unite
Light rail + streetcar. Not too bad, maybe 30 mins.
It’s a bit tough to answer this without knowing more like if you have a car or where in the u district you are thinking of living. A few things to consider: it’s super tough/expensive to park around SLU so using public transportation is the way to go for sure. Download the bus app and check the route. Secondly, there’s a ton going on in the summer around SLU and they have really built it up. Tons of great restaurants and every service you can think of - plus easy access to the lake and downtown. Meanwhile Udub is on break. If you have the opportunity to live in SLU, you should IMO.
I used to live in SLU and there is absolutely nothing going on outside of M-F 8-5, and anything that is available in the neighborhood has a hefty "Amazon tax". Would not recommend it if you care about lifestyle outside of walking to work.
There's a place called The Vermont Inn at the corner of 4th and Denny. I have no idea but it's like but it is furnished apartments with flexible stay. I remember driving past it a lot when I lived in Belltown. That would be walkable to South Lake Union.
Very doable as far as big city commutes go. There are parts of U district that are fun and other parts that can feel a little sketchy. Exact commute will depend a lot about what specific part of U district you are in.
I assume you already know Seattle has a lot of homeless people and people on the street with mental health concerns. Not dangerous as far as big cities go, but can be a bit shocking and first.
