Hi guys,
Need help,I am joining VMware Banglore on 27th June. During interview I told them I need wfh. They said it wil be wfh this entire year. Only mistake I did was i didn't permanent wfh. I took for granted like once I join i can opt for it ( as my VMware friends had said we can opt for it)
Now the offices have started, I am scared if they call me to office , I have 14months son, not willing to leave him n go for office.
So if I ask manager to give me permanent wfh will they agree ?

25 minutes. Holy hell 4 hours of commuting sounds awful.
I'm leaning that way. Zero time to do anything personal. Weekends are loaded with all the things i can't get done mon through wedns.
That 25 min. away job is just over 4 hours of commuting a week. The other is 9-12. Sitting is the new smoking so take the closer one. Also I personally find that the more similar in routine each and every day is, the saner me and my family are.
Closer is so much better with kids. You will have so many things to run out for and get back for and need to be there for- 25 min and back can be done in a long lunch if daycare calls. Or you can work till 5 and still make aftercare pick up. Or take the kid to the ped and still be in by 10. That’s practically a dream for many people.
Try a marketing role (not consulting) at a consulting firm. We WFH at least 3x week but super flex schedule— I sometimes don’t go into the office for months. :)))
Those are the first roles to go when there are agency cuts. Being non-billable is a risk. Check the health of the agency before making that kind of move.
Closer , works out better over time
The latter 100%
25 mins away (currently at 2 hr commute door to door )
Closer to home
Definitely closer. If the jobs are on par with each other.
Commutes kill careers. Choose the shorter commute!
25 minutes away without a doubt.
Where do you live? Commuting into NYC?
