I’ve never pulled an offer when someone asks for more. If I can’t offer, I’ll tell them.
"Can you really lose the offer?" Yes, but it's highly unlikely. In this context, almost unheard of. $5k is not a ludicrous ask by any stretch of the imagination. You're good.

Exactly $5k is roughly what $2/hour?
Everything in context. You see what's reasonable to ask for and do that. 5k is not a dealbreaker number. 20k-30k when you know that’s above and beyond market rate, isn’t such a good look.
Rising Star
That! $2/hour vs an extra $10-$15/hour

It can if it’s not within the role’s budget. I’ve had an offer pulled from me when I requested a bit too high from their budget
Worse thing they can tell you is "no". After you embrace that part of reality, do some research with competitions or just a general search in the industry and negotiate your numbers

Exactly. Most are on pay and anyway

Never lost an offer. Usually got countered or told it was in a payband
I don’t think $5k is enough for them to rescind the offer. If you were asking for $20-25k+ more, then I’d rethink it, especially in this job environment
