I'm considering moving from biglaw to a tax manager role at PwC. What's the typical salary for this role? I'm a third year.

It will depend on your credentials and what market/office and practice group you'll be going into. New JD/LLM associates in NYC come in to B4 international or M&A at ~125k (from what I remember my classmates saying). Managers in those same groups in NYC range from 180k to 225k from what I've heard.

This is a senior manager / new director level salary. A director in ITS was at this base.

Isn’t there a hiring freeze at PwC / big 4? I would check that before speaking about this at your current firm. New managers make close to 160-180k.

Interesting, why the switch? I’m thinking about the switch from the other side (to the extent possible).

I got laid off from my accounting/consulting firm in January and have since been taking a class related to my industry but from a tech angle. I prefer to leave consulting but could stay off the work and work life balance were better. I signed up for this class thinking hiring woods be soft until midyear give or take just wish the class finished. I look on this app and it seems everyone is hiring. Am I missing the boat by not being in a full throttle job search now?

After many months unemployed, I got an offer in another city at a pharma agency, HCP work. My last position was as a brand strategist at a well-known NYC agency. With the surge in job postings, should I hold out for a position that I'd actually be excited about? Or is the job market still super terrible? I wouldn't even mind DTC healthcare, but HCP is just not for me.

Anyone else tire of the “plant mom” and “dog dad” me too conversation? It seems to be more frequent. For example, company says, “Parents, please share pictures of working from home with your kids during Covid” for a diversity and inclusion project. Undoubtedly someone responds, “what about my plant babies? 🤣”. I don’t want sympathy but I find it childish. Just give us the courtesy of understanding that plants and pets are not the same. Stop “me too’ing”

Health question: Does anyone else suffer from nerve pain in their butt/hips from sitting all day? My research tells me it’s piriformis pain. It means my sit bones are irritating my butt muscle, which irritates my sciatic nerve. It can be excruciating and hurt even when I stand. I bought a fancy seat cushion for my office chair, and I have a standing desk. Nothing helps. The pain has been around for about a month. Anyone else?? What did you do?
