It’s mostly circumstantial but if you’re really good? They want to keep you!
But if there is no budget then no matter how good you are, you’ll most likely be kept in pipeline or retainer fee if you’re really worth
I do think timing has something to do with it. I have had to pass on great candidates simply because of timing and budget issues. Circumstances definitely do play into whether or not you land a role.
Nice to hear that! I had the opposite issue - we had to hire less qualified candidates compared to the last batch just because we needed bodies

In my experience circumstances make it or break it, I remember 6 months with 2 reorgs in them that reshuffled everything before one could start doing anything, how can one recruit and onboard effectively in situations like this one
