Happy flight check-in day!
I got a call from HR and offer discussion was over couple of weeks back and still waiting for them to send me final mail to release offer. May I know if they take this much time to release offer, when I did a follow up call after 10 days they said they are waiting for some approval to release offer.
Any ideas i still have chances to get offer? BNY Mellon

This happened to me after purchasing my first home. I was no where near as financially prepared as you. And, then again due to the pandemic. The second pregnancy, the company did not yet know I was 20 weeks pregnant but they knew when they discussed the layoff. Performance was not an issue both times.
First, the US is horrific in how it protects women and pregnancy. That’s a whole political, emotional and philosophical discussion that doesn’t help in day-to-day activities.
Second, having an attorney involved is awesome. Let her be your advocate.
Third, all the financial stuff you seem to have a grip on. I found contract work the first time and found a permanent role at 7 months pregnant the second time.
Fourth and not least, take care of you and your baby. Let the lawyer fight. Take a breath and reassess and see where all of the opportunities are ….. not just professional. I can say from experience that you will be ok and it will work out. If a company is that awful, you didn’t need to be there. That’s one lesson I learned.
Feel free to message me. Sorry you’re experiencing this.
My husband‘s income won’t quite cover our current expenses because of daycare costs plus we JUST taken out an extra home loan to renovate. Typical. We can do things like cancel our cleaner, cancel his gym membership and Therapy and can reduce daycare by a day, but I feel like I’m just in financially in shock. I do have savings that will cover me for 4 months. But realistically it means I’ll probably have to find a new job when baby is maybe six months. And yet, I’m beating myself up because I’m surrounded by friends who are taking a full year off and have these crazy generous packages like six months fully paid leave(?!)
I’m sorry you’re in this situation.
Did you join a smaller firm? Even at larger firms, there is a 1 year condition before taking Maternity leave.
Yes it’s a smaller firm in the UK. Enhanced pay would have only kicked in after 18 months. But you do get 6 weeks pay anywhere as long as you’ve worked there 26 weeks. So I will lose that.
