I received TCS offer 10 days after I joined another company as they took more than month to release my offer. My BGV came negative saying you are working for another employer. I tried convincing HR that I am ready to resign now again and join TCS within a month as my initial joining date with TCS is also in December but she says offer is cancelled as you didn't inform me of your joining to another company. How valid is this? Tata Consultancy

Discuss with friends who are already there.. 70-80K might actually mean the same as what you are earning in India.. but with a drop in quality of life (subjective).. we miss family and friends, homes are smaller, life becomes a bit lonely (depends on your friends circle) and at times you question if you made a good decision.. I am in UK right now, so can tell you this with experience. If you are emotionally strong and you can achieve good success here..
EY1: Same reasons, life was lonely there. Even though we made some good friends. But meeting every weekend was a big thing. Most of the times we used to roam in UK malls, high streets, covered few neighbor places and then we decided to come back to India. Now we are living in a society, every evening when I go to society park with me kids and see them playing so happily with other kids, i feel good about my decision. Although, here also we dont make frequent trips to home or vacations but a different satisfaction is there.
No. It’s poverty compared to what you earn here. My friend and I got offered £70k base +variable+stock options as a counter offer when we were earning ~15 LPA. TC came to ~£90K.
My friend took that offer when he had a 30LPA offer. He took it because his wife pressured him to live outside India.
I had 40LPA+ offer in hand. I rejected that offer. My wife didn’t want to move as well. Now my base is more than 40LPA. India has a good trajectory and better earning potential in the future.
Second, you will be in the same or similar role for years to come. Very difficult to move up or out.
In India, if I can’t move up in a couple of years, I can move out with at least a 40% increase in salary and a better role.
The choice comes down to this:
1. you want to lead a leisure life professionally, don’t care about finances and is fine with being an outsider, then take UK.
2. You want to move up in life professionally, earn good money albeit take a bit of hit in WLB and saty in homeland where you’ll not be viewed as an outsider.
The choice is yours.
I smell strong bias here 😅
Life is not easy over there bro, think about all the aspects before moving and your priorities.
Dont want to demotivate you, I was in same situation few weeks back and I decided not to go.
how do you guys get calls from abroad role? for which tech stack?
depends if you're only earning or your wife also earning..but 70-80 gbp is really good..you can have comfortable life even you're only earnning..
Depends on what you want in life . Tradeoffs are there for a better environment, cleaner air, maybe a better future for children? Numbers wise, what you're making in India is much more. (PPP)
Other people and the internet can only give you mathematical calculations. It's your call.
An equivalent salary for 40LPA would be somewhere around 150k gbp. Considering its London, you should try to get 160-170k.
This is based on the PPP calculator which is easily available online.. 70-80k GBP sounds like a major step down.
Well, i was earning 105k USD onsite, when my India salary was 21LPA. Now that I'm making 40LPA, I wouldn't settle for less than 180k USD or 160k GBP, especially if I'm going to uproot my life here and move to a different country.
In India you can get good flat and helpers. Chill life like a king.
In don't understand what else you want. 40lpa is really good in India. Your can enjoy and save comfortably.
Abroad you have to hustle for everything. No helpers high taxes cold.
EY2 - correct. But earning 30 in India or 70K in London is already enough “paisa”
But yeah maybe it’s different if your total family income is 70 in London.. in my case I also have my wife who earns as much as me
Depends on which city you are going to. 70-80 GBP in London isn't that much really. The rents and cost of living there is really high nowadays and will eat most of your salary. In a tier 2 city though, it could be a much better life.
It's London
What's your age, qualification and experience?
29, Tier 1 MBA, 5 YOE in Tech Consulting
Tech stack ?
He is moving out of PwC and joining some other firm in UK i guess
I have multiple of 3 must be earned in London ..if India if it's 30 lakhs there should be 90k GBP...is this info correct...can someone confirm?
