Congrats on getting started! Aside from the pitch and closing, I'd say focus on active listening and building rapport. Understanding your prospect's needs and concerns is key to tailoring your approach. Also, don’t underestimate the power of follow-ups because persistence and relationships is really the key to sales
Take your time. Ask tons of questions and fine pain points. Be unique! And find a great solution to their problem. Most importantly…send a thank you (win or lose) and ask for referrals. Have fun!!!
the first thing i learned stepping into sales was belief. having belief in what you doing is a major role in this. the second thing i learned was my script. i had my script memorized within 3 weeks after i became licensed. i would record myself too while i was learning it to. watching how my cadence was. while in my role play i would build a rapport with my client. and I watched how i would ask questions. this is hard for new sales person because they would get stuck on the road of objections. that moment when a client says something and there is that death pause because they wouldn't have anything else to say after that. I learned my objections and had a rebuttal etched in my heart. once you have that master all you really have to do is tie it down. i would say to my client that if we schedule a time between this and that are you sure would be there because if you aren't, I can schedule another client in this slot who will actually be there. and the if they would say yes, i would have them take my name down, along with what I am selling, and have them repeat it back to me. then i would tell them to place it where they will see it all day long and ususally its the fridge. I also have them think about why we were talking in the first place. the rest is in the bag.
The best advice I received when I started in sales was to be authentic- be yourself.
Don’t be a sleazy fake sales guy.
When you’re selling don’t think about the near term sal, think about the long term relationship.
Listen to understand not to respond.
Get training like MEDDIC and Business Outcomes or Consultive Sales things like that.
Learn how to ask open ended questions.
Learn to mask leading questions.
Become an expert in your products and out in the extra time to master it.
Understand how and why people buy. Spend as much time, or more, on this vs your pitch and closing techniques. No one wants to be sold.
When I started sales there were a few things that helped.
First is to learn when to pivot. If your pitch is not working and you are getting a bad reception. Then change it up.
Second- learn to read people’s body language. This is a big help.
Last- focus on connecting with people. Then the sale will be much easier.
Hope this helps!
