I’m concerned that my latest job have been less than a year each on my resume but I’m at my wits end and need to start looking. Do you think I will be overlooked because of the length of time at each company?

You might be overlooked if you’re just submitting applications and resumes to an online job portal and hoping someone even spends 30 seconds scanning it.

But that’s not the best way to get a job anyway. Use your network to help get referrals into the system or introduce you to hiring managers and recruiters at companies you’re interested in. Then you can start off with explaining the reason for the short times (I’m in the same boat as far as only being at Citrix for a short time before the whole merger/acquisition thing, but there’s a very reasonable explanation as to why I’m looking after only a few months, so it’s a non-issue).

Absolutely! Thanks so much for the feedback. Good luck out there.

I had interviewed with Deloitte UK consulting in June/July and was called by the HR team by the end of July that the interviews were positive and they're sending for approval for an offer to be rolled out. I was called back later in September and told that the role is on hold due to a hiring freeze. Is anyone else in this situation and have you'll heard back from the HR team post that

Products I worked on previously were sold to a new company. I am a good fit because of my experience. However, I specifically left the previous company because I disagreed with the strategic direction they were taking with the products and didn't leave on the best terms with some of those involved. I've been told that the leadership is all new people, but, some might still be there.

How up front should about be about that history in the interviews?

I probably need two resumes one for drafting and design and another for purchasing. Are they bulleted? When I google I am coming across different ways. Please help me.

I applied for a job at Google, but thought it would be unlikely they would even get an interview. I am not a typical FAANG candidate (older, remote, mostly experience with small companies, no internal referral, etc.) and worry I am wasting my time with these interviews. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? Especially if you interviewed as an atypical candidate at Google and other FAANGs.

I quit my previous job approximately 5-6 months ago due to toxic culture and being pressured to commit fraud… I fear hiring managers see that I’ve been out of work for this time and may assume I was fired or laid off. Additionally I’ve had a couple interviews where company “X” interviewers have commented on this and in an effort to not bad mouth my previous employer I’m stuck with a generic answer like I want to take my career to the next level with Company “X.” Any thoughts/advice?

I’m going to be making an exit soon to a company that’s working hard to recruit me in. I’m in an AE position. I’d be forfeiting $18k in RSUs vesting, President’s club, and $200k+ in pipeline if I do move. I’m inclined to leave because this would be a step up in a role and I really like the team.

My question is: is it reasonable to ask for a $40k sign on bonus to account for what I’m leaving here? How do you go about negotiating that?

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get.
