I'm giving a presentation at a convention and I have no idea what to wear. I've been remote since 2019 and haven't had a professional outfit since. It will be in Houston in mid March.

I would appreciate any suggestions or links. i don't need anything expensive as it's barely going to be worn.

Maybe have a look at some videos from similar conferences online and pick some looks you want to emulate? Then go and try and buncha stuff on and pick the outfit you’re most comfortable and confident in. You can’t go too far wrong with a blazer outfit tho. Wear shoes you’ll be comfortable striding across a stage in, and make sure they’re broken in fully!

My go-to move is to look through websites for Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, etc to find a complete outfit that I like and then I buy those pieces. I love fashion but have a hard time putting an interesting outfit together myself.

Go in and have a sales associate somewhere help pick out an outfit for you within your price range. Ask for a classic style. Express, BR and Abercrombie have reasonably priced basic items. Stick with neutrals like black pants, comfortable black shoes, white/neutral colored blouse, and a black/neutral cardigan/jacket. If you pick items that are neutral solid colors, they’re easier to match and rewear basic pieces outside of work. Abercrombie has trousers in different inseams online which is great so you don’t have to get anything tailored. So does lululemon for trousers and they have free hemming, but they can be more expensive.

I’m returning to an office soon and am using rent the runway. Delivery is super fast and it’s nice bc you can try before you buy or just swap out. I did 5 pieces a month but may switch to 10.

My colleague is going on maternity leave for 4 months and I was asked to cover some of her projects which are step up in responsibility than what I’m currently operating at. Some peers have suggested I ask for a raise to accommodate this but I’m not sure I agree as I’m only covering her while she’s out? What are others thoughts about this?

During my interview process I clearly stated my salary expectations of 95k-105k. They came back with an offer at 80k. Is it even possible for us to come closer to a better agreement with them being so low? All other aspects of the job are in line with what I'm looking for, so I really want to make this work.
