Time blocking has been a godsend for me. I block my calendar in between meetings for focus work to make sure I'm not getting distracted by Slacks or emails. I have a hard time focusing on any one thing for too long, so I like to bounce from task to task every 45 minutes or so, with a 5-10 mental reset break in between. Example schedule: 9-9:45 Task A. 9:45-9:55 Break. 9:55-10:40 Task B. 10:40-10:50 Break. 10:50-11:30 Task C. 11:30-11:45 Break. This obviously isn't a rigid daily schedule since meetings come up all the time, but I find this sort of blocking to really increase my productivity. Don't shortchange yourself on the breaks, either - they're so important to helping regain focus.
Color coding is productive! I just found out I can add charms to my calendar and spent a lot of time on that! It is very difficult for me to focus on anything when I rarely ever have a big chunk of time. I break it up and leave notes on it when I do need to switch gears.
I agree with others who said time blocking. That is the only way I am able to stay on top of things. My days are super busy and full of meetings.
Time blocking has really changed the game for me. The problem with traditional time tables is that it pushes you to follow things with a precision that we really can't guarantee for ourselves.
