I’m in asset management now as a fixed income analyst. Should I get CFA or can I eventually get the promo to PM without it if I simply excel at the job?

I’ve done it without a cfa and know many others who also have. But if you ever want to leave the job it’ll be harder without one.

like

Yeah , that makes sense. So I’ll just have to perform even better (as possible) so that not having the CFA isn’t a disqualification

Well do you want to take over 3 years and 900+ hrs of your life to gain that designation? Per test, on hour is a minimum of 300 hours. The opportunity cost is do you spend that time or are you better off at learning the market, bc one thing will guarantee you know what is going on. The other will not.

Thanks SVP 2 , very insightful and something to think about as well

OK, so, right now I make a helluva lot, but I think I wanna make a bloody helluva lot because that seems to be what I should do - and what many of you do, as well. Quick question.
I was a contractor for a big company and they just let me know that my last day is December 30th. I got this position thanks to a recruiting company that has been great and gives me benefits.
Should I:
- Continue working with the recruiting company, hoping that they will find another position for me? (as they told me they will, and when they applied me I started working with my current company within 2 weeks)
- Work with the recruiter + apply for jobs on my own?

Just curious to how my firms (wealth management/bank/trust) comp compares with others out there. I received a promotion earlier this year from an Investment Advisor, AVP to Senior Investment Advisor, VP and moved from $110K to $140K ($130 salary + $10K discretionary bonus) all in. By meeting expectations in 2 pay cycles, the base bumps up to $175K + bonus. Grown in this role over about 10 years with the same firm, MBA + CFA; top 10 city and living comfortably as dual income household.

Hey guys, so I have competing offers. One at Bank of America for 124, and one at Allspring for 110.

Does anybody work at Allspring? They did not provide any information regarding benefits, 401k match, or any annual bonus structure. I was told, verbally, that the Bank of America bonus is something like 15 to 20%, but nothing in writing.

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about compensation structure at Allspring, or any opinions on the culture there. I would be in Charlotte.
