Expect :
1) Implementation projects to be very different from what you think a ‘consultant’ works on
2) To gain a hot skillset
3) Low variability in content and structure across projects
4) high variability in internal and client team strength and wlb across projects
Prepare by :
1) Spend some time learning about the functional operations your primary product will support or control
2) Pick something achievable to learn and become responsible for and take ownership of it early
3) Find a good mentor early
4) Learn the dbms language applicable to your primary product
Thank you for the feedback
Which part of JDA? Very different doing planning than say wms.
Regardless, expect to be busy. Remember the following:
You clients are not in the business of implementing software.
Bad news never gets better with age.
It is nearly impossible to over communicate.
You have two ears and one mouth. Use them in that proportion.
Never be afraid to call out a bad consultant. As the new guy, you are going to get people that don’t really know what they’re doing.
Good luck
I don’t work for JDA. But I know the company really, really well
You ought to navigate the organization carefully so as to get due credit for the work and always look back to see if anybody is going to throw you under the bus on one bad implementation ! If you are a Keen learner and embrace the Luminate technology with JDA you can do wonders to your career and go places . I may be strong on my note about ( throw under the bus ) but I believe those bad actors have left the company ( but the culture tends to linger on ) . Good Luck ! 👍🏻
Thank you for your feedback I appreciate it
