Most organizations are not going to entertain a conversation based on what people in other organizations are purportedly being paid. If you are undervalued, approach your managers and make a strong case for your own contributions and demonstrate what a valuable employee you are. If you can show that you're a more productive employee than you had been a year or two ago, that's a good argument for a raise.

I agree, you have to add value.
You shouldn't get "pissed" but rather have the conversation you need to have with your employer and screenshot or cleanly document your evidence. Employers dont pay you what you're worth if people are willing to work for less, and the individual economic needs are widespread.
Hello, my last job in Boston before I moved, I got to hire my replacement. Was a young white male on his late 20’s new grad.
Only to find out he got hired and his pay was 20%more than me. Latina, 15 years of experience, bilingual, female. Yes get pissed and leave if necessary. go somewhere else that appreciates you, negotiate your salary from the beginning.

Typical, men still make more $
This would be a great discussion with your manager. Also look at the benefits package of these other companies and your PTO. You would have to start at the beginning of the PTO bracket. I have learned many of the companies offering higher wages are hiring people as independent contractors (although not said in posting). I have run into this where the pay is the contract pay and you pay your own taxes and healthcare benefits with that stated amount.
Really depends on the size of the other organizations vs where you are. A multi-system hospital is going to be able to offer more than a single hospital. But there is no reason not to have an open, calm, discussion with your supervisor about your concerns. You can decide from there if it would be more beneficial for you to remain where you are or leave for more money.
Yes that is crazy
From my experience, pay can only be negotiated in smaller private owned companies, and you would have to prove what you've accomplished that brings in more revenue.
In the company I previous worked for, it was union and each position had a starting pay no matter your experience and guarantee 5% raise every year. When I looked at hiring platforms, the pay would show higher tier salaries than what we paid. Ive also gone on interviews where they stated the pay was much lower than advertised. I say that to say, be strategic and have your performance lined up, but dont be surprised if they can't give you a raise, especially in 4th quarter.

It could be worth bringing those salary ranges into your next chat with management. Just make sure to approach it positively focusing on your contributions and the value you bring to the team.
I don't blame you. You could try to use it as leverage though to get a raise at your current company. I did that and it was successful and I got a really great raise.

doesnt hurt to try especially if you have data to back it up. I would schedule a meeting with your manager to go over all the facts and if that doesnt work then escalate to HR

Yes, I would bring it up, ask for more money, the only thing bag can happen is they say no!

Absolutely! Bring those salary ranges to the conversation. It’s important to highlight your worth. You deserve to be compensated fairly for your skills and experience. Good luck!
This goes to show that we shouldnt wait for the employer to approach us with a raise. At the time of your yearly review, you should already have your researched proof showing them what a person with your experience, specialty and all the things that add value to the work you do to negotiate a higher salary or better yet, send your boss/mgr etc a letter with that information prior to your review stating youd like to discuss your value to the organization.
Moreover with every new skill, add it to your resume and shop it to see what you can get paid. Always keep your resume updated because sometimes your raise comes from a new company in a a new role. Dont get comfy with these companies as they don’t value you and will fire you for the slightest mistake or whenever they feel like it. Put your license/credentials/degree first! Thats your brand. Be your own Brand Representative no matter what you do! Hope that helps you make your decision.
