In-house cybersecurity/ai counsel, what are you making? YOE, location, public or private are helpful, too. I'm trying to price myself in DC market with 4-6 years of experience.

Nobody is "AI counsel". You're typically cyber, privacy, or product, or some mix.

Depending on industry, you could be making 160-250k base. 10-20% bonus and anywhere from 10-100% of base in stock.

How is product counsel for AI not “AI counsel”?

arent ai counsels essentially data privacy attorneys? alot of AI laws essentially center around data governance and proper disclosures around how Ai systems interact with and train on data. id look at how data privacy lawyers are being paid

Yes, but the requirements are generally specific to AI implementation and governance coupled with cybersecurity as well. It's become a mix that is argue requires stronger technical knowledge.

That said, point well taken. I can use that as a starting point.

I’m a Product Counsel and regional Privacy Officer for the U.S. and Canada at a subsidiary of a publicly traded multinational and am responsible for AI issues and preparing our polices and best practices related to AI. 6yoe. Make $225k base, 25% bonus. Will get stock next year, probably 25%. Northeast U.S.

My background is in tech transactional. I joined a cybersecurity SaaS startup at the end of last year and now also handle more generalist matters in addition to all things commercial-related. I have a number of books on contracts that I’ve found super helpful over the years (The Tech Contracts Handbook, A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting, Sign Here, etc.). Can anyone recommend books they’ve found helpful for L&E matters, privacy matters, product matters, or marketing/advertising matters?

NFW- I just had a good laugh. Earlier today I was on a video conference call reviewing a Private Label Agreement template with a larger company who wishes to brand label products we develop and manufacture. We came to a very one-sided provision and my sales VP stated “for this one, how can we just say ‘hell no’ ...nicely?” The other person on the call said we can replace the wording with just NFW (no f@$* way) and I said “I will have to add that to the defined terms section so it’s clear”
