In my restaurant, servers make twice the amount that chefs are making and working less than half the hours. Is this similar in other restaurants? I understand tipping makes a huge different but I would argue chefs are a little more valuable…

This is definitely pretty standard across the board in this industry. Even myself, as a General Manager, see weeks where my servers and bartenders make more money than my salary. Makes me feel like I should’ve never stopped bartending sometimes! Chefs are certainly the backbone of any restaurant.

Yeah servers in my experience always had the nice cars, longer vacations, look cleaner, and were generally able to afford a healthier lifestyle. The best spot in FOH is an hourly Captain. Never take salary as a Captain.

I used to get secretly get tipped out by a server in Vegas and I made sure to give her table priority on all tickets. Which boosted her tips even further. She was very kind and a great individual so the fact that she did this with the kitchen veterans was such a help in my personal life. She called it sharing the love.

I used to have a fitbit. Really liked a lot of its features. Like the reminder to move and the competition within the app (games and competitionvs friends). However, whenever I was at work I'd find myself taking it off for more comfortable typing and then forgetting it during the day. Now that I'm back at work I'm sitting more and need to move. I was thinking of getting an oura ring. Does anyone have one? Any thoughts as to which is better?
