This is why so many boomerang back to public. I'd jump off a building if I did the same thing every day/month.
Uhm, like PA does not have repetitive work... 😂 We do the same thing quarter after quarter, year after year...
2 months when I was industry; i boomeranged back bc I was so bored
I’ve been back a month and so happy with my decision
I went to a big company so I see new things everyday but it’s not stressful like it was in PA. I can take my time and learn things at my own pace. In PA, things had to be done like yesterday and they were more concerned about getting it done versus teaching you. Yes there are some things that are repetitive tasks but it’s in combination with new things.
I think so - you’re not going to face new problems as rapidly as when you were in public. The spin is that you’re expected to know that company inside and out so that, when a new problem does occur, you can handle it blindfolded.
Took me 2 months. Then I was bored
No way am I bored after 9 months in industry as I hired into management level. If you’ve mastered your job after 5 months I would have to assume that it’s senior or staff level work and I can see people from public bored with that after a bit. However, if you think you’ve mastered your job, maybe spend some time writing SOPs and doing process improvement to help pay the framework for you to move up and show your value to management. If you’re still bored, time to move on to something more challenging or your skills will just atrophy .
That’s why I am afraid to switch.
I’m in industry now and it is boring. When it’s not there’s like stressful tasks like accruals or special products. I feel like a lot of the stress in public doesn’t carry the same weight as private. In private you don’t get several levels of review and people always checking your work. Sometimes you expected to just figure something out and get it right. I miss that part of public
Ditto. I miss having the many levels of review and the coaching. I just started in industry and my boss just signs off without reviewing my work so I’m not sure whether I’m doing things correctly.
