How do you guys increase your mental stamina? If I could focus laser like for at least 8 hours out of the day I would be a monster. But I cant. How do those of you that do it..do it?

i get up and take a walk around the office at least every hour. 3-4 times per day, i turn this into a walk around the block outside. 8 hours of continuous laser focus is overrated.

I make a to do list every morning.

Phone goes in the drawer.

I take at least 30 minute lunch away from my work space. Every day and at the same time.

Schedule meetings and calls after 10. Actually since I begin my workday between 6 and 6:30 am, I have a lot of time to prepare. Reports run and emails cleared before anyone else gets in. By 8 many things are already off my to do list.

I keep high protein snacks at my drsk for mid morning cravings. Cheese sticks and almonds work great. Keeps me focused.

Leave office at 4pm. Home, dinner and back online to wrap things up.

Works great until it doesn't.

hold up pwc 3 - 6:30am to 4pm minus half an hour lunch is already 9 hours. and then you get back to more work from home in the evening? we do not get compensated enough for that. and that just does not sound sustainable year round.

^You may think that's a joke, but it's true. Also, start learning to meditate.

Pwc1 do you still work at PWC? 9 hours a day is the standard sometimes. I end up in the 10-13 hour days normally. What group are you in? Maybe I’m in the wrong group lol

Lol where do you get adderral? Do you guys get prescription or just thru someone you know? Legit question

Nicotine in whatever form also increases mental stamina. In a not smoking form it increases productivity. If you're smoking it probably becomes a wash except for the fact that it gives you a break from work to clear your mind.

My secret was treating mental illness so depression wasn't fucking my focus up, but that probably won't help most people. I listen to audiobooks when I work, and don't let myself read them otherwise, so it helps me focus on work because I can only listen if I'm working. Makes the hours more bearable too. Sometimes I stay later than planned because I don't want to leave in the middle of an arc etc

Know when to keep at it and when you need a break. Sometimes im working on something but maming good steady progress and 4 or 5 hours will just fly by. Other times, I go 30 minutes before I have to break away from whatever it is. Get a drink, chat with someone, browse the web for a bit, ect.

It just depends on you and what kinds of things can maintain your interest.

Any advice on how to tastefully tell your manager that you no longer want to be a charge nurse anymore? For us being in charge is having full assignment 3p-7p & being responsible for assigning pts , communicating w/ supervisor about various issues, making the assignment for next shift, and a mini report about each pt for the next charge. On the weekends, same responsibilities but 7a-7p. We don't get any additional pay for being in charge and I'm sick of the added responsibility and stress of it.

Have you talked about your wedding with coworkers? I made the mistake of saying I had to leave work a little early one day because I was going to do a tasting at my venue. That starts a debate on why one shouldn’t get married, how much wedding costs & what a waste it is, dresses are stupid because you only wear them once, etc. I haven’t talked about my wedding much, but I didn’t appreciate this. I ignored the negative comments and we moved the conversation along. Not talking about that anymore!

DO YOU JUST ASSUME THE COST OF YOUR MARKETING ACTIVITIES? I am looking to allocate their cost in the marketing budget in a way that won't rely on several layers of assumptions. How do you reliably estimate the cost of different marketing activities (email, social, web, etc) when you don't have specific people or tools allocated to each function and costs are spread across many channels? Ads seems the easiest, but even then there's time and overheads... I've been looking for a reliable model.

Curious on whether people are thinking about the ethics of their exit company when deciding to move?
