Insurance Defense lawyers. How much is your form billing per hour? My firms clients are pretty much in the $180-$250 range. This is in Jersey City NJ. Also my firm pays very poorly with high billable requirements and paltry bonuses. I wonder if this really related to their rates or if I’m working in a pyramid scheme haha. PS, compensation aside I love working here. Clients and co-workers are low-pressure, very flexible working hours, work is pretty interesting, and Jersey City is awesome.

ID underpays and overworks because of the low rates insurance companies are willing to pay. You will always be underpaid in ID and unfortunately the exit options aren’t great either

And finally we don’t have a hard billable “requirement” as much as an aspiration. You get a 5% bonus at 2100. You can just opt not to get the bonus.

$175/hr to $350/hr, with the majority being somewhere in between, in NYC. A general liability carrier we work with increased the billable rate for partners by $15/hr this year…laughable.

I currently work at an international law firm (4 years) and recently accepted an offer to go in house. The main attorney I support did not take the news well and was very angry with me. I feel awful and beaten down as I don’t want to upset anyone but the new role is fully remote and a nice pay bump. Looking for words of encouragement that I did the right thing. I feel awful 😞

Need advice. I’m at my first job in private accounting. Previous experience is as an auditor. I am struggling to figure out the way JEs are posted at my current company. It’s never straightforward even for simple entries. There’s things like settlements which confuse the crap out of me. I’m curious if it’s just my company or if every sophisticated accounting department will have non traditional ways of posting their journal entries.
