It's been working alright for me as a writer. Once my ideas and scripts move forward, an AD is more than happy to help throw together some key visuals. I'd love to have a solid partnership, but at this point, I'm actually doing alright on my own and can be picky about who I want to partner with next.
I think we’re in an interesting time on how ai can help both writers and art directors. I was in the same boat. Had a few different partners that just didn’t have the same work ethic or wanted to do the path of least resistance/not do unexpected things. Had another that just over complicated everything, would write like 7 paragraphs for something that could be articulated in a single sentence and it drove me crazy. Another partner just didn’t work and it caused me to have to learn how to do it without a writer. Awful experience lol. But it taught me a lot. Then I was matched with someone and we were a great fit. I learned a lot from them and it made me a better creative. Depending where you’re at in your career you learn a lot of lessons in your partnerships. If you’re at the point where you know exactly what you want and who you’d work well with, it honestly could be beneficial to try it alone and learn how to do it that way right now until you find someone that’s a good match.
