Which is best? A law degree or a master's in international relations? Those are where my interests lie. Looking for advice on tips and tricks for landing PE MBA internship, coming from consulting. What were the game changers for you?

Graduating with PhD in comp neuro next year. I just did a week long internship at MBB to check out consulting, which I loved but ultimately will not be accepting my offer for life considerations (my wife also works at MBB and we have young children). It was amazing getting a sense of what the work actually comprises.

Are there any similar day-long or week-long internship programs for data science? Would love to test it out for a little bit to see what I like/dislike.

The division I’m currently in seems like there are no good opportunities, and I have the funds available to finish my undergraduate full time (Canada). SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

Hey guys. Here’s my question… is getting a MBA worth it without a sponsor? It will only take me 1 additional year after my undergrad and about 15k. The career i want it in real estate acquisition and the competition is crazy so I think an MBA will make me more appealing on paper, getting me an interview and allowing me to showcase my expertise. Any advice would be appreciated because I’m going into my senior year this fall and have another year to think about it.

So someone I know asked HR about a boot policy. When he found out that there wasn’t one, but his boss said there was (who gave the guys $ for boots and the claimed it on his expense reimbursements as something else) the boss got mad at him for askingHR (and in trouble for the expense reimbursements) and then 2 days later laid off my friend. There appears to be no notice of bad performance and this person always was the first person on the job site ready to work. Thoughts?

Have an offer from a dream company but I'll need to go in at a lower level. Knowing that I can bring a lot of value to the company (read- I know my worth), I negotiated with the hiring manager to have a level/comp review 6 months after employment. If I hit all my goals (ie, prove myself) within that time frame, I'll get a promotion and salary adjustment.
