Is fourth quarter insane everywhere? Do you have any truly "slow months?" Q1 used to be but not any more!

My 4th quarter is starting to slip into my 1st quarter and the work seems to be never ending now a days.

Yep, that's what I'm feeling too. They are all blending together.

It's wild here too. Has been for months. I don't think slow months really exist anymore. It's just grind, grind, grind, 24/7, 365.

Yep, that's why we've got to take our PTO. The work will always be there, no way to get ahead.

Anyone thought about leaving the industry? Looking for something less crazy, more 8-5, less sales driven?

It is for me! Feels like we’ve been slammed with work nonstop. Deadlines are being moved up to avoid the end-of-year time off for holidays and everyone going on vacation. We are all going to need a long vacation after this!

After the last two years I swore I wouldn't have any goals based on Q4 work, and I was pretty successful at that this year, thankfully.

My wife is in sales at Mercedes and she has been averaging $200k a year and growing YoY. She loves her job, however she works long days and barely gets time off. We plan on having kids within the next year or two, and it’s highly u likely that she’ll be able to keep her current gig. We want to find a career that allows her to work remote or that at least gives her a better work life balance so that she can see her kids grow up. Should she get certifications to give her a shot at adtech?Too late?

I've been an individual contributor for 4 years in Tech, have 8 years of experience total. I'm finding it difficult to make the management transition despite having management experience, performing beyond expectations, and having a genuine passion for enablement and development.

I'd appreciate any success stories or pointers you can offer in regards to this transition.

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?
