Is it a mistake to pick HBS over GSB? I know it’s a very privileged position to be in but not sure if I made the right choice. I’m sponsored and will go back to consulting for at least two years.

Plenty of people make that choice - are they all idiots?

GSB is probably a marginally better choice if your goal is to go into entrepreneurship or VC - really any Silicon Valley-type job. If that’s not your goal, then GSB is not really differentiated on outcomes vs HBS. Sure it’s differentiated on experience (less intense, less academic, more introspective) but it’s up to you whether that experience suits you better.

HBS has many advantages over GSB that make it a totally rational choice for the right person. Wider network, better representation at F500 companies, historical brand equity, probably more actual “learning” in the academic sense. If you want these things, go get them, they’re yours.

I’ve made big life decisions on gut feeling and while it may not make sense to many others, it’s the decision I needed to make. It sounds like you’re facing this challenge right now. HBS is probably right for you. Go sign that offer of admission.

Thanks so much!!! I hope I will only have good things to say about HBS haha. Really appreciate your thoughts!

Not a mistake. Would have loved to made that choice but I’m too dumb to get into either. Enjoy!!!

Not a mistake! I’d consider HBS > GSB for my goals. I’d say they’re pretty equal except GSB is more for tech-oriented entp/vc/pe

And congrats!! Hoping I have your problem too haha

I know you probably don’t want to get into it but I’m applying to schools in the fall with sponsorship and wondering how to differentiate myself. What allowed you to stand out amongst the sea of other consultanting applicants? Essays, ECs, etc.

Thank you!!

I'm a young professional finishing my first year of my career. Last month I opened a brokerage account & invested $4000 in the stock market. How did you get started?

I was excited to cut cost and save but my townhouse HOA fees will be increasing significantly in 2022 (60%) to cover some land repairs in the community. We got this house in Dec last year. The HOA tried passing this plan last year but couldn’t collect enough votes to proceed. This time around, the homeowners close to the land/wall are lobbing to ..

Hey guys, need some advice. I was fortunate enough to get the Consortium fellowship at Ross but am also stuck on the CBS waitlist and am still planning to apply to Wharton in R3. Assuming I get into CBS/Wharton, is there that much of a difference between them to forgo scholarship money? For context, I want to get into product management at FAANG/fintech with pursuing MBB as a plan B. Thanks in advance!
