This is a great reaction! Congratulations.
When I resigned, the MD (skip level) said only a few nice things but then spent another 15 min reminding me on how I should work hard in my notice period, so “no one remembers you as the person who slacked off during the notice period”… then he proceeded to not have any contact/ catch-ups for the remainder of 4 weeks of my notice period. Didn’t bother to reply to me farewell email too.
5 years worth of working under him and he was worried about my performance during the notice period!!
My immediate manager seemed more worried about opening a new req since he knew I wasn’t going to change my mind. Didn’t even take him 15 sec after hearing my resignation that he was looking for HR contact.
Being a manager should come with a lot of responsibilities as you are responsible for people’s careers and livelihoods but unfortunately, most managers spend all their energies kissing up to their higher ups to maintain in their seats.
The very common difference between a "manager" and a "leader"
I had one badmouth the company I was going too
I’ve had one ask for salary at my new job and then make a remark like she was disgusted that I was going to be making the same as her lol
I had the same experience leaving my previous company for my current role. I loved the manager, she was great. She was immediately hit the realization that everything id taught myself how to do and the workload I took from her was squarely back on her shoulders.
She was supportive but tried to offer me more pay or be an advocate to switch into a different role internally.

My job I just left my bosses didn’t say anything and they basically ignored and avoided me as much as possible. That was pretty awesome . Nothing like giving my best and accomplishing so much for them for 7 years and not getting a thank you or goodbye
Lol noted
I had a manager get a little emotional. It was nice honestly. I didn’t really want to leave so it was nice to know the feeling was mutual.
It depends if you would take more money to stay. If so, see what they offer. If not, “I appreciate the opportunities you have given me. However, I would like to spread my wings and grow with a new opportunity. I would also like to keep in touch and see if our paths may cross again in the future.”
