anyone get their stimulus checks yet?
Hi all,
Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both KPMG and EY. I’m more interested in the EY offer, but they are paying 3k less than KPMG.
Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.
Thanks!

No. I left EY after 10 years and I was clear about this. Recruiters know that this is the main reason why people leave.
I would put it more like, seeking work-life balance. Stay positive.
Just tell them what you want. I have always been very clear about my expectations so if the role is not a fit, you dont waste your time and their time.
I told everyone I have had enough of tax seasons. If they can’t understand why you can’t take 80 hour work weeks anymore, you need to stay 10 feet away.
80 hour weeks are literal slavery because you don’t get paid for the 40 hours.
"I do not think that word means what you think it means"
Do you want to keep working 80-hour weeks? Doesn't sound like it, so be straight up about it. If you say you're okay with it, you're going to wind up in a role exactly like the one you're trying to escape from.
It depends. If the recruiter is looking for candidates for a specific role, they likely won’t care. But if you hire someone/work with a friend to help you find roles, then absolutely. But those random ones shopping for something specific? They likely don’t care - they want the bounty.
As a general rule it's best not to denigrate current or former employers. That can backfire and make you look like a complainer. Just tell them what you're looking for and be specific about your goals. What's already happened isn't their concern and they probably don't want to be hearing it.
I’m upfront about it. Some places don’t want to hear that but most understand you usually switch jobs to better yourself.
