Regardless of what job postings may say, there's just the reality of a lot of people with experience who have been laid off in the past year. In many cases they'd be open to entry level positions as it's better than being unemployed. So people with no experience at all are being squeezed out and finding it more difficult to find a position.

Job descriptions are always written for the unicorn candidate. I feel like 3-5 years is a way of saying “you need to have SOME work experience”.
Good question, and I'm also curious! I came across another day with a job role that was 3 (Sales, Marketing and Adm) in 1, and they called part-time intership + 2 years experience.
