Anyone familiar with Opportunity Zone Businesses? I have a very basic question that I cannot find the answer to no matter how much I search. If you’re informed on this, I would like to shoot my question to you here or offline in a direct message. Thanks!

Yes. What’s your question

Thanks, and you’re good. Just setting forth the rule(s) ain’t giving legal advice.

Following!

There’s variations state to state, unless you’re talking about HUBZones under federal contracts.

The guidelines governing Opportunity Zone Businesses are uniform regardless of state and come down from the IRS.

My boss (atty) is so disorganized! I’ve been with him 6 months and he’s having a hard time delegating, sharing info and managing deadlines. I’ve organized the caseload to manage the deadlines. He says he wants me to help with discovery but when I offer to start on one, he says he needs to do it. (Since he might have to present as evidence) When I give him deadlines and ask for the docs he says he’ll get to it. It’s a small 1 man firm, and I’m the first assistant besides his wife. Any advice?

Does anyone else struggle with being a freelancer while also being a natural leader? I always feel in freelance roles that they would prefer I just shut up (even though my ideas have been praised and implemented plenty), esp within my own dept. In a full-time role, taking charge is expected, but I'm feeling like I should just sit back and take orders vs trying to be proactive or having thoughts in a freelance role.

I have a promising interview at a relatively large law firm in my area (+100 attorneys) next week. The position is for a transactional role in their real estate practice group, and they are seeking someone with at least 2 YOE. I have a bit over 7 YOE with a strong real estate/commercial lit. background. Over the past two years in my current position, I've been doing a lot more transactional work. The split is around 50% transactional and 50% lit.

Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house? Will this ruin my opportunities down the road?

I've been a government attorney for nearly three years now and have worked in the same office/division since I passed the bar. I've yet to receive a promotion other than two cost of living increases (in sum, a pay increase of 6k over 3 years). I know this is meager, but I'm mostly ok with it, I just want to see some recognition. On the other hand, it's hard for me to imagine negotiating because (given my inexperience), I don't feel I'd be able to do better anywhere else. Any advice?
