Honestly this wouldn’t surprise me
Advertising hasn’t been a serious profession for quite some time, well, at least recently
Insufferable people left running whatever is left of the industry and this kind of thinking keeps the same entitled people at the helm
From a manifestation perspective, whenever we really want something desperately, we emit or send a signal to the universe that we don’t have that something. And the universe keeps giving us the vibrational match to that signal. The effects end up being one too many emails, or awkward body language, or other cues that sabotage the very thing you want. The key is to behave and act as if you have it already, even visualizing a reality where the signs of the wish fulfilled are a reality. The universe will match your wish-fulfilled vibration. This sort of thing also plays out this way with dating. When you feel and act like you’ve got options, it shows, even registering to people subconsciously. I know many might consider this mumbo jumbo, but there’s more to our reality than meets the eye. The buck doesn’t stop at the third dimension. It starts with the spiritual and quantum one.
Beyond the spiritual nature of this is the reality that people want what they can’t have. Why do you think gay men love a straight dilf? When I was single, I could never get noticed. But in a relationship guys cruise me constantly. The idea that I don’t need you seems to be a turn on.
NGL, most roles I’ve landed started with, “I’m not looking at the moment, but I’m open to a conversation.” More so for leverage when negotiating salary.
I mean, there has to be some balance with how you approach recruiters. Desperate is never a good look, but they all get it. They’re getting axed as much as we are.
I try to shift that sense of desperation towards eagerness. But it can be a very very fine line.
This is such a weird take. Enthusiasm has gotten me lots of offers over the years.
Recruiters don’t care about “desperation” they just want to serve up people their clients will like.
Enthusiasm is good, desperation isn't. Hiring managers want the candidate who will bring the most to the role, not the person who needs it most.
This involves some brinkmanship, because you are almost certainly dealing with hiring managers and companies who are on a more relaxed schedule than you are.
They want to know you want the job…. you definitely shouldn’t act disinterested. But if you can at least act like you are content and doing well where you are, getting good projects, just being a happy worker in general (vs a total downer) and don’t need the job, it signals that you are valuable and likely a good hire.
I was just talking with a friend last night who did hiring at Reddit, and she said she didn’t respect candidates whose rate did not match their portfolio. So knowing what you are worth counts for a lot.
