In some select use-cases maybe. But generally their main plays are different: Salesforce does well serving customers/consumers, ServiceNow is better at serving employees (coming from ITSM background and delving into HR).
They’re similar no/low-code SaaS products, which is why I think people often compare them.
Source: worked in Salesforce ecosystem for ~9 years. Now a ServiceNow product owner at end customer.
Ecosystem includes the mothership. I literally wrote in my post that I’m now somewhere else so as not to mislead. I normally post with my title anyway.
Thanks for the lecture though.
I’d also add that pricing-wise ServiceNow is a lot more affordable. Wouldn’t be surprised if they made inroads on that basis.
Service now pays well and hires a lot of Salesforce talent. They also have a weird ceo like we do. The product is prettier but doesn’t do as much of the enterprise integration and automation that ours does. Bc it’s more internally focused their current market opp is inherently smaller but they are playing the long game.
S3 well said. I’d also say while no big organization can maintain a 100% culture buy in, SF in my view does the best job of it (totally get others might feel differently).
Hopefully now that roles are opening up again I’ll finally get the chance I’m looking for
Not a direct competitor but in some of the areas
They are eating in SF market specially in Service cloud area…I am aware of couple of CSG client looking to make that move.
Away
Yes, And that will be a dent on one of the bread winning product for SF I.e. Service cloud
We will eat all of them up with Service GPT *sarcasm*
Same broad overarching concept (PaaS) but as others have pointed out, services very different clients across the enterprise.
Not. They are not a direct competitor. ServiceNow is a platform that supports IT service Management and Salesforce is a platform that supports Customer Relationship Management. To put it simply - Servicenow is for internal support and Salesforce is for external support.
By your title I’m guessing you’re a Salesforce consultant.
They are slowly evolving to steal share from Salesforce. Most of these companies exist to get a market share a big company like msft sap oracle or Salesforce doesn’t have yet. And then they look to be bought. Service now is a poster child. If they don’t get bought, their investors lose patience as growth stagnates.
Exact target did a few acquisitions to broaden their base and went public and were bought by Salesforce less than 2 years later. Look at how good a deal that was.
It’s the same playbook until it doesn’t work. With credit being expensive now service now is gonna run out of tricks.
