Is the mental effort of overemployment worth the extra money for you?

100%. I’ve honestly changed my perspective on it. But I’m only doing J2 PT. It’s one instance where I can actually control the outcome (eg more money) with my efforts. If I try to get promoted or push for a bigger raise through all the extra work involved (networking, volunteering to go above and beyond, building a business case) there is not a guaranteed outcome of more money. Most of the times I’ve tried these things I’ve gotten no’s. I’m tired of doing the work and not getting anything for it.

I mean I believe that too. I had a job that I felt that way for. But you know what? I stayed there for 3 years, gave my blood sweat and tears, did not get a raise or bonus for those 3 years. And after pushing for a promotion was overlooked TWICE. Only to have a girl get promoted because she was sleeping with the CFO. So now I’m looking out for my bottom line first and foremost

Currently an HR Generalist looking for a second remote job. Does anyone know of any opportunities? I’m currently freelancing as well.

I really want to get a second job but I am scared of losing my current one. Both companies are in same field, although not direct competitors so I know it’s technically “not allowed” however, this is the only way for me to get that $$ since I am not paid all that well.

Of course I won’t tell a single friend/coworker. Only my partner. And I don’t post work stuff on social media.

Realistically what are the ODDS of being caught? Is there a legal/HR process with which they could find out??

How difficult is it to juggle a remote role with a hybrid role?

My current role is hybrid with at least two days a week in office. However, with the potential economic downturn, I'm considering holding on to the role to supplement my income.

I'm new to the overemployed movement, so I'm evaluating the feasibility of holding onto the hybrid role and the remote position.

The first rule of overemployment is dont talk about overemployment to anyone outside your house. :). Second: always protect the main job. Third: As the main job always has the priority, the Second and third jobs must preferably be contract gigs with not too many meetings everyday. Remember: another day, another dollar.

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?
