After six months on the bench, it's time to worry at our organization. Doesn't matter if you can prove you're upskilling either.
What's the reason for your bench time? That makes a difference, for sure. Have you had a conversation with HR about what you can expect from here on out? Might be a good time.
It’s just that there are not enough work in our OU and there are people on bench longer than me.
7 weeks is a bit exaggerated I will say. I don't think you're getting fired though, I think they would've already done that instead of benching you for all that time
Have you talked to your manager or project lead about putting you on something else? It could be helpful if you try to network yourself onto another team.
I really think you need to talk to them about it. You will just keep worrying yourself sitting and waiting for them to tell you what to do next
I was on the bench for close to that. I changed roles at the end of Q3, which coincided with a period of fewer project kickoffs. Kept busy (certs, pro bono…etc) and management expected it.
Find out what is in the pipeline. If there is a bench policy where you work, it should be transparent.
What role are you?
