Is there a polite way to say "this could have been solved in 2 messages instead of a 45-minute call"? Because I need that phrase tattooed somewhere visible.

And then they don't remember anything and you have to email them the information/resolution anyway!

After all the circling back, you still end up typing it all out anyway.

I feel like so much of my job could be distilled into this one sentence. I would love if my team were a little bit more aggressively decisive and clear, rather than having to constantly circle back about everything a million times.

I have lived this. Endless loops of “let’s revisit” and “let’s align” drain the life out of simple tasks.

I use “Just to confirm, could we capture key actions in writing next time?” but what i really want to say is exactly what you wrote.

That is such a polite way of saying “stop forgetting what we agreed.” I might borrow that line

This is exactly how I feel after the majority of my meetings 🤣 if there’s not something to take from it, why have it in the first place !

One of my direct reports has asked about going part time. They currently manage special reports in a bi-weekly publication, working closely with sales, freelance writers, and an internal designer. Job duties are primarily project management and editing/proofreading. As the first read on articles, they need to have an understanding of the material (business/regulation). Has anyone had experience with job sharing in this type of a role?

The argument that climate change is not man-made has been disproven by science over and over again, yet many people believe that the global crisis is either not real, not of our making, or both, in part because the news media deliberately chooses not to talk about it because it doesn't sell enough.

"Don't Look Up" is as real as it can be.

Greetings from Madison, Wisconsin. I'm a reporter with more than 32 years of experience and I feel that, lately, local television news has been kind of dead, but I am pleased to fight for it from my local newspaper. Locals love to see someone from their own town succeeding or finding out something inspiring.

I am a firm believer that this will not change for a long time, local TV will continue to live as long as we stand for it.

Journalism is the best job in the world but I feel like people are less likely to take my work seriously because I am female. So it's like they automatically think the only things I would be good at writing about are fluffy little human interest stories. I'm just a reporter like everyone else. Is there some way I can tell my supervisor that yes, I do like those stories, but I like being a serious reporter even more?
