For most jobs - Honestly if I’m asked to go through more than 3 levels I’m done. First screening recruiter call- then manager call and team call. Anything more than that means 1. They don’t know how to interview and hire and 2. They aren’t really that serious about hiring and have time and energy to put me through hoops. Reality is that in this awful job market they can be picky but my time and energy matters.
That sucks balls.
1. HR intake
2. Hiring manager
3. Peers and stakeholders (panel - or individual)
4. (Maybe) hiring manager’s direct manager or other senior stakeholder
5. Close out with hiring manager.
You shouldn’t ever be at more than 5 rounds (although the round I note above might be 3 separate interviews if it’s not a panel, but should be counted as one. If the company is smart, they’ll schedule them back to back so it’s one time window).
So exactly the same as mine, but starting at 0 as if that changes the number of rounds, and a condescending tone (a good senior is there to provide their input if asked for it by their team member)? Outstanding. Thanks for stopping by.

It’s okay to decline the next level of interviews
Data repeatedly says over 3 interviews is inefficient, doesn’t present you with new info on candidates, and wears down everyone for usually a tougher negotiation if the candidate hasn’t dropped out already.

While it can be very frustrating to go through several rounds of interviews and not be the chosen candidate, the process is not a waste of time. Practicing and honing your interview answers in real interviews is valuable. If you are not using your interviews as a learning process you are missing out. You should be learning about what you want and your ability to verbalize that. You should also be learning about the company. Getting adept at asking questions to find out what you need to know about the company is crucial.
I would like to respond to the person who said they are not doing more than 3 levels of interviewing. Good luck with that! I have said many times that in the interview process you must show up as a person they want to hire. If you cannot be bothered to go into a fourth interview, you are not a good candidate.
Job search is a dog. It is best to adopt a positive attitude and enjoy the ride.
I'm sorry that happened! I can only imagine your frustration. My personal max is 4 rounds for a position. Anything more than that, and I'm skeptical of how efficient the company runs
