I'd consult with legal counsel, but honestly - letting people know is really the right thing to do from an ethical/transparency standpoint.
You absolutely have to let people know. Big red flag there.
As many have said, consult legal counsel. I advise that signs should be posted in areas that do contain asbestos.
The highest risk of exposure is when it’s disturbed, which typically happens with contractor work. I highly recommend having a contractor management procedure if you have outside contractors on-site.
I had this once And we did indeed notify employees after legal counsel.. I’m not sure if it was required by law or if we did it out of best practice, but seems like you should after seeking legal counsel
