Why do we spend so much time prepping to interview for a career ladder (management consulting) where most people seem to already think about exit strategies only one or a couple of years into it?

I can’t take anymore Friday’s off to interview...

Had my performance review August 3rd. My boss could tell I was upset about a messily 5% raise after getting my degree etc. (recent post). He asked what range I’d like to be in, and I responded in a fashionable matter by comparing median salaries in the area. He said he would try and get me in that range. But has taken over a month to “think” about it. There shouldn’t really be much to think about? Either he wants me or he doesn’t, right? At this point I’m losing money and and motivation.

Feel like I was lied to when interviewing at my current agency. I was very honest how important work life balance is to me due to health issues. I’m only two months in & working 55-60 hours a week, having to sign it at 10pm for reports. Every account seems to be like this. How much of a red flag is it if I already start looking for new jobs? I really wanted to make it work, but so can’t do this. I’m in Pharma PR, fwiw.

I work in big law and live in a HCOL area with a large family. I have about 600k+ equity in my home and a mortgage at 2%. I have 250k in student loans and I’ve always figured at some point I would pull money out of my house to pay my loans, but I have also been waiting to see do there will be any reduction or forgiveness. Does it make sense to keep my loans or should I take out another mortgage at 4 or 5% so I can pull money out?

How would you reply to that email?

Reading through some possible interview questions for FAANG. One of the ones I've seen on Glassdoor are to design a basic architecture structure for something like Netflix or Twitter or Spotify. I've been researching online using AWS or GCP (still learning all the moving parts of architecture). Any advice on how the setup would be? I'm assuming you'd start with some Load Balancers. For Netflix maybe have different different APIs for signing up vs scrolling through possible movies?
