It’s variable by neighborhood within Vista. I lived for nearly 10 years in a Vista neighborhood that was quirky but pretty safe.
Good to know ZSA. Thank you.
I live in Oceanside and spend a lot of time in Vista. Having come from Europe, "lots of foot traffic" signals more (not less) safety to me. Perceptions are, by definition, subjective and the detractors you picked up on could just as well be seen by someone else as attractors - all depends on how you've been conditioned to interpret them. As a fellow woman, I strongly recommend living wherever you feel most at ease - while acknowledging that the benefit of doing so might be primarily to lower your own cortisol levels, not because other places are necessarily less safe.
My dad lived in Vista a long time ago, before he moved to San Marcos. I never lived there but when I visited my dad, I didn’t love it. It may have improved in the last 10 years. If you have a choice between these three communities, I’d start with Carlsbad. I think that’s the best/safest option of the three.
How interesting. This is good to know. Yes Carlsbad seems to be the premium spot to live. 😅 Gotta get that boujee job stat!!
It seems to be going downhill lately. Personally, as a woman I wouldn't take a chance.
Good to know. Glad to be validated.
if you don't feel comfortable walking there during the day, then it's a no b/c that means you'll never feel comfortable in your living space.
I’ve never heard of that before. I like it. I’ll use that from now on. Thanks Sales Rep 1.
Contact Elan Properties. They have a lot of buildings that they manage in Carlsbad. It may be a little more expensive than Vista but if you are near the Village, you can walk everywhere. It is a much safer city, that’s for sure!
I'm from here, been living back here for the last 10 years-- overall pretty decent place to live if you like calm & access to local grocery shopping, restaurants, parks, & other small businesses, & being in a central location in North County along the 78 freeway. The downtown/main street/Santa Fe Ave area has developed a lot & transit is better. Not at the level of Oceanside by the pier yet, but it's getting there. Depends on neighborhood, mine has plenty of women and children walking.
