Is your company flexible with annual leave, or do they make it mandatory to use all your days within the same year? In my last company, I couldn’t carry forward leave to the next year, but they paid me for pending days. Both systems have positive and negative sides. What does your workplace do, and which approach do you prefer?

We do payouts too, but no carry overs. I honestly wish we could carry over a certain amount of days because I would save up for years when I know I have a wedding or some other bigger time commitment. But I'm grateful we at least have a payout option and we don't just lose the PTO altogether.

Yeah carry over good option as per my opinion

They let us roll over, thankfully

Good for you

We can carry over a max of 5 days even though they don’t technically expire. It’s a management rule, I guess to keep people from accumulating an abundance. I like being able to carry over 5, but it would be nice to get to carry over 10 and be able to plan a longer vacation every few years

Texas drivers…honest question. Why, why in tf do people just camp in the left lane? I’m talking doing maybe 5 mph over the limit in the left lane when people want to go faster and they can get over?? I can’t always see around and sometimes on hills I can see that one jackass is holding up a line of cars. What gives???

Hey Dallas folks!

I want to get to know the local private companies. I worked at a private company with 2-3k employees before my MBA. They had an amazing culture, but limited progression opportunities. I'm thinking about looking for a smaller company (couple hundred to couple thousand employees) in the Dallas area and looking to find an amazing culture.

Anyone have recommendations on companies with great cultures in the Dallas/north of Dallas areas? (I live in the Plano/Allen/Mckinney area)

Curious what in-house lawyers are doing for pro bono (Model Rules recommend 50 hrs/yr). Feels harder in-house because organizations like Legal Aid seem to pair with firms or expect you to be practicing with a firm.

My goal with law school was big law. I graduated top 30% at a T50, are my chances at Big Law done?

I have mid-size firm offers, but it appears that significant big law hiring is done.

Does anyone have any suggestions for picking a firm that will get me there?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.
