My partner works as a professional chef, so completely different worlds these. I love learning about what she does and helping her out in the kitchen to put together delicious meals for us.

Completely different. My partner works for a small family business that sells jewelry. I personally like learning about aspects about their job & industry that I wouldn’t have known working in tech.
My partner is literally finding a cure for cancer, which is pretty amazing and always interesting to hear about. You can probably understand why I have to introduce myself first when we meet new people lol
Ive been in both situations and it was terrible to deal with the same field in tech because thats all we talked about and had in common after a while. It became a problem when one of us moved up faster/higher than the other.
My partner and I are in completely different fields, but I think that is kind of a nice pro. We both have very different strengths and they can play well together. We aren’t looking to go into business with each other, so it is nice having different areas of expertise.
We are in different companies selling into the same divisions at large corporations. It’s actually quite useful because we share information about our conversations to help improve the others chance of success
She gets my jokes. Unfortunately. she was client and I was consultant, so I got (what I thought was) more than my fair share of "f-ing consultants".
She did learn to pick up the check, "I'm not going the let you mark it up and bill it back to me!"
My partner and I are both in tech which is nice because we can relate to one another on a lot of the annoyances that come with certain aspects of the job. Also it's nice that she's just as good of an engineer as I am so I can go to her if I'm stumped on something and get some actually good feedback. Also, studying for interviews is amazing bc I have a live-in coach.
