Please evaluate this initial offer for Apple ICT3. I think I was low balled, but I want to take more opinions. Currently Sr. MTS at VMware, received Apple ICT3. I was expecting to get to ICT4 but seems like team thinks upper end of ICT3 is more apt. Also, I think it is because I don’t have any counter offers yet.

My path to getting the title “product manager” started with developer -> technical project manger > development manger > project manger > product manger. The most important thing that I did as prep? I networked inside the company. I told my manager and my manager’s manager that I wanted to grow into a product manger’s job. I talked to product managers within the company. I volunteered to help with little tasks.
The second most important step was reading, self-educating, network. Being current on buzzy words and memes is important. Product manger is a job but program manger is a role. Product mangers look outward. Program Managers look inward.. etc...
I think it’s possible.. and more likely within the same company. See if you can work with the product team more and get an internal transfer/placement. It’ll help you see if you enjoy/are suited for the role.
