It is so hard to believe that we are in our last 5 days of the school year! I'm feeling a bit pensive and relieved at the same time. How are your emotions at this time of the year?

In my former district, (recently retired) the kids don’t get out until June 9th. The teachers get out on June 11th. Still a month to go!

No. The teachers went back like August 21st and the kids started August 28. They also didn’t get a week for spring break. They get two days, Good Friday and Monday.

I saw their calendar for next year. Get this. The teachers go back August 14th and the kids start the 21st. The last day for kids is June 10th. (Yes, they are have them coming the last week for two days) They will get a week for spring break. It’s ridiculous. The teachers are super angry.

We have 11 days left, but who's counting?! So ready for the time off but I do get a little nostalgic at the end of the year. So much time to get everything prepared at the beginning of the year, and now I’m already packing it up again. I always find it kind of bittersweet at the end.

Exactly! I'm glad to see some of them go, but I wish we could keep some of them.

Most of my final senior assignments involve reflection, so I’m actually enjoying the reading right now while still being relieved that I can see the end in sight - 4 days left with students.

IMS: They also make suggestions for school improvement which I share with the staff and admin., so they feel invested in writing it.

Oh man 5 days? We have over a month left 😭 every May I get so jealous of teachers ending around Memorial Day, but then every August I’m quite relieved we don’t start until after Labor Day.

I think I'd rather go a little longer in May and start later. We start back on Aug 12th.

I'm trying to figure out how to pivot out of my current job. My department is in utter chaos, which has just become completely unmanageable. I'm looking for front-end web design work, and work from home. I am a strong designer and basically set up landing pages for large companies on a proprietary CMS in our company. If anyone knows of places I could apply? I'm not trying to reinvent myself as I do artwork on the side and would rather grow that business and get out of the chaos of fortune 500.

Recently accepted a temp role as an HR admin for a former employer. Previously interned there & left because my supervisor did not have any growth opportunities planned out for me; this was in spite of my stellar performance, as reflected in my 90 day review. She has since left the company, but there’s crazy turnover in the company & in the HR department in particular. Just that an HR coordinator resigned. Is it worth going back into a dumpster fire w/ no leadership to gain experience?

I'm working at a startup where I feel like I've spent as much time trying to deal with product issues vs working on roadmap items. I get this is bound to happen in a start up but is this common?
