Take the time. I didn’t think they’d survive without me and two maternity leaves later the world keeps spinning and life moves on. Enjoy it while you can!
👆🏻On the one hand it’s a bit jarring to see that things do progress without you, but this realization will be super helpful down the road when your kiddo has the inevitable sick day from school or you need to duck out early to take them to a doc appointment etc.
Try to enjoy the solo down time because you’re about to go into a few months of all consuming baby mode. It’s wonderful but intense 😉
Congrats!
Take the time to rest before the baby comes! They will be fine without you.
Seriously. Take a nap now. You won’t be able to take one for like 10 years.
With my first, I worked RIGHT up until his appearance. With my second, I took 2 weeks off before the due date and it was such a better experience. Having that separation and time to decompress from work was so much better for my mental well being. It’s okay to be bored, you’ll be plenty busy soon enough 🤪
One, congratulations! ❤️
Two, gave birth last week - one week before my official mat leave start! By planning it too tight I wasn’t able to tie loose ends on time with the team and left a few things hanging! 😫 I wish I had taken my mat leave earlier like you did! You did great, lady — the responsible thing to do!!
Best of luck for this amazing moment!!!
I know how you feel! I worked up to my due date but my baby came a week later and during the whole week I didn't know what to do with myself. I was also feeling anxious about using up leave time that was meant to be with the baby. But I kept telling myself that this is literally the last time I would have time to do nothing and for myself only. It was tough since I was so used to always doing stuff but it helped and I indulged in as much tv as I could tolerated and went on walks. Hang in there!! Your baby will be here soon! Try to enjoy and relax as much as you can!
Rest as much as you can. Also get some freezer meals prepped. Those are life-savers once baby arrives. Congratulations!!
